Lovely...

.. to come to the winery in the morning and see the the roof like this

.. and then on the following morning like this. Once the roof is ready we can finally complete the entrance with doors and everything and organize the house-warming party!

Big Brother G

Mamma mia! Tonino just discovered that our cantina is visible in Google Streetview!

It's funny to be so... exposed..

The photos seem to have been taken in July-August last year. I wonder how often they update these images... otherwise anyone who bothers to look us up in Google Streetview will mistake us for a construction site...

Spring is in the air

While The Sartorialist (and with him hundreds of annoyed commentators) are upset about not being able to find proper gloves in snowy NYC, here in Tollo we've seen the first spring day of this year - with the sunshine, the messy warm winds from Africa and a few fruit trees blossoming.
My car was parked on a sunny spot and when I took it during the lunchbreak then for the first time this year noticed the steering wheel being hot from sunshine. Oh, as an afterthought just wanted to add that we also do have the spring clothes on display in village stores :)
The photo was taken during lunchbreak today

Cerasuolo's and Trebbiano's restaurant debut

On Friday we celebrated Rocco's birthday party in a rather elegant new restaurant in Tollo, that bears a profound name Vizi e Virtù (in English it would mean 'Sins and Virtues').
The owner was kind enough to let us bring our own wine. Actually we were supposed to drink our white Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and rosè Cerasuolo just with the starters and maybe with the first course. But the evening was real fun and at some point our Cerasuolo had made it not only to our table but everyone in the restaurant was drinking it, including the cheery musicians. Really fun evening!
On the photo you can see our Trebbiano d'Abruzzo making its restaurant debut and Giacomo contemplating about the aromas in the background.

Our Pinot Grigio in BIT Milano!

Today a small group of our Pinot Grigio bottles started a long journey towards Milan. It's a really funny feeling... it’s our first harvest and these wines are so close to my heart that departure of every single bottle feels like sending a much loved and groomed son to university.
Anyway from 18-21 February our beloved and groomed Pinot Grigio’s will be presented at the BIT Milano (they say it’s a very important tourism fair). If you happen to be around, in the stand of Regione Abruzzo our Pinot Grigio’s will be available for tasting among other Abruzzi wines.

Here we go..

So here it is. Our first post.
We are the Radica family from Abruzzi, Italy.
We are a start-up winery, so every day is an event. For example today we witnessed large trunks of wood being put in place for the roof. So far we have roof only over the production area and now we are finishing the entrance and offices.
I think to start a winery is something really exciting and unique. Lots of people ask how we are doing, so this blog serves as a way to keep in touch with our foreign friends and let them know what is happening in our small (but very cute) winery.

Oh... dinner time! Have to go because being late to dinner will be punished by unbearable look from mamma!
